Built Around the Work, Not the Certificate
Suria Kod started with a single question: what would an AI programme look like if the primary standard was whether learners could actually do the work afterwards?
Back to HomeA School That Tells You What You Are Getting Into
Suria Kod was founded in Ipoh, Perak, by a small group of practitioners who had spent years noticing the same problem: people would finish an AI course and still not be able to write a training pipeline, debug a failing deployment or explain to a colleague what their model was actually doing.
The programmes at Suria Kod are designed around the things a working practitioner needs to be able to do — not a set of topics to cover. Each level ends with an assessed piece of work. That work has to meet a standard before the next level opens. There is no shortcut through it.
Cohorts are capped at twenty so that mentors know who is in the room. Office hours run five evenings a week in Malaysian time because that is when most people in our cohorts are free to sit down properly with a difficult problem.
We publish how many learners finish each level. That number tells you more about the actual difficulty of the programme than any description we could write. We think you should be able to look at it before you decide whether to apply.
Our Mission
To give developers and analysts in Malaysia a clear, honest path into AI work — one level at a time, with real feedback and no misleading claims about what is possible in a given number of weeks.
What We Value
- Completion rates published without adjustment
- Time estimates based on what past cohorts actually reported
- Refund terms in plain language beside the enrolment form
- Mentor availability stated in MYT, not rearranged for appearance
Based in Ipoh, Serving Malaysia
Our office is at 33 Persiaran Greenhill, 30450 Ipoh, Perak. All instruction takes place online, and learners join from across the country — but the school is grounded here, and the people running it work from here.
Who Runs the Programmes
Practitioners who do the work and teach from that experience.
Zulaikha Ahmad
Lead Curriculum Architect
Worked in applied ML at a Kuala Lumpur fintech firm for six years before joining Suria Kod. Designs the level structure and writes the assessment criteria for the six-level programme.
Razif Nordin
Data Engineering Lead
Has built data pipelines for retail and logistics clients across Southeast Asia. Leads the data engineering module and holds three evening sessions per week during active cohorts.
Siti Lim
Mentor & Portfolio Reviewer
Formerly a senior data scientist at a Penang-based research company. Now conducts portfolio reviews and mentors learners in the later levels of the six-level programme.
How We Maintain Quality
The structures that keep the programmes worth finishing.
Assessed Level Exits
Every level closes with a piece of assessed work. The standard is set before the cohort begins and does not shift. Levels may be retaken if the work does not meet it.
Cohort Size Cap
No cohort exceeds twenty learners. This is not a marketing claim — it is an operational ceiling that allows mentors to follow each learner's progress individually.
Published Completion Data
We publish the proportion of learners who complete each level. You can read that number before you apply and use it to form your own view of the difficulty.
Data Privacy
Learner information is used only to deliver and improve the programmes. We do not share or sell personal data. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Plain-Language Withdrawal Terms
Refund and withdrawal conditions are written without legal obscurity and are placed next to the enrolment option — not in a document you have to look for.
Consistent Mentor Availability
Office hours run five evenings a week during active cohorts. Times are stated in MYT and kept to. If a session is unavailable, the cohort is notified in advance.
AI Development Education in Malaysia
The demand for people who can build and maintain AI systems in Malaysia has grown steadily over recent years, but the supply of structured, practical education has not kept pace. Most available courses cover topics without requiring learners to demonstrate what they can do with those topics — which means the gap between what someone has studied and what they can do on a team remains wide.
Suria Kod takes a different view. The six-level AI development programme is structured so that each level produces an observable output: a piece of work that either meets the standard or does not. That structure means learners leave with a portfolio that reflects real capability rather than hours logged.
The data engineering module addresses the part of AI work that often goes undiscussed in introductory courses — the systems that collect, clean and deliver data to a model. A model trained on unreliable data is an unreliable model. The module exists because we think that understanding is worth having before you start tuning architectures.
The portfolio review offers an independent read of existing work from a practitioner who regularly sees what employers and technical collaborators look for. It is designed for people who want a candid view, not an encouraging one.
Suria Kod is based in Ipoh, Perak, and serves learners across Malaysia through online delivery. The school runs a small number of cohorts each year so that the quality of instruction and feedback does not get diluted by volume.
